Waiting For My Moment - My friend Gauta (Randy) Ioane and I wrote this song one afternoon. He called and said that he wanted me to read some lyric sheets that he had been working on. Now keep in mind, Randy is an amazing lyricist but he doesn’t write music. It literally is the hardest way for me to write music. I have no idea what he hears in his head when he writes these lyrics and it’s next to impossible for him to explain it. So as I was sifting through about twenty of these stories, I finally got to one that clicked into a melody. As we explored the lyrics and rearranged some of the lines I realized that this was a story about a relationship that ended very badly for him. He and I wrote the rest of the song together and ended up with an anti-love story. This could be the ingredients to any country song. But knowing Randy, it needed to be a power ballad.

Lyrics

Waiting For My Moment By: Howie Askay and Gauta (Randy) Ioane

I was lost I was found then lost again, don’t know what went wrong
I’ve hit rock bottom then hit the end, feels like I can’t go on
The pain that you put me through it stands with me here today
Echos of yourself and who I knew, Shallow empty drops of rain

I can’t take it anymore, The tears scream without pain
I really tried to explain, it only drove you away
Not a single fireman could ever break down your door
It’s time for me to rise and hold onto what’s in-store

(Chorus) I’m tiered of life, I’m tiered of love when I’m with you
I need to walk, I need to run to somewhere new
Waiting for my moment, to break free
A chance at life and be me

Bury me in a shallow grave so I can feel the sun
You stand and shadow me, I really thought you were done
Vultures fly overhead to dig me up again
That’s when I knew it was the end, we’re were better off as friends

(Chorus)

(Bridge) Now a lifetime has passed, yes and I’m doing fine
Take no more blame, cause it was always yours and mine

(Chorus)
